cold - still there - March 10th 2010, 02:09 PM

Last week i had a bad cold and was in bed for about 4 days with a bad cough, sore throat, runny nose etc. Its been a week and a half since i first got sick and although im much better, i still have a runny nose and cough (but much milder than before) and i'm feeling very tired. I'm not feeling unwell just a bit run down still. Is that normal? How long do colds usually continue?

I had a pretty bad cold back in January, and it stayed with me until the middle of February. I was over the cold in about a week but I was feeling run down and incredibly tired for weeks after. Depending on the virus you can experience something doctors call viral or cold hangover for up to a month after you've actually beaten the virus. Just listen to your body and sleep when it's telling you to sleep and still get plenty of fluids.
