Pulse Rate -
March 19th 2010, 01:46 AM
hi guys, im almost 17, a female of average height and weight... and i have a consistent resting pulse rate of between 90 and 95 beats per minute. i hear the average is in the 70s. I've tried meditation and rest and all, but nothing seems to help either immediately or in the long run. on top of that i am very stressed out/anxious. i am on no medications, though. i also tend to shake a lot and i can get dizzy/lightheaded too.
what's up with me? lol..thank you SMIFFERS<3

I would say go to the doctor, your heart rate isn't that far from average. This really is something only a doctor could answer for you though.
In terms of getting it lower, generally the more you exercise the lower your resting heart rate will be. Other things you can do are eating healthy, finding ways to lower your stress and anxiety, and generally leading a healthy lifestyle. Sorry I couldn't be more help

your heart rate is the normal range, although a little high. "a resting heart rate for an adult is between 60 and 100 beats per minute." and since your sixteen i'd judge it on the adult averages so i wouldn't be overly worried but might be worth a visit to your GP just to check there isn't anything contributing to it being on the higher end.

Hey there Torence,
I agree with what the above posters have said. I don't think that there's anything to be overly worried about because you're not too far from having an average pulse rate. I think that if you are worried, and as this is to do with your heart, it may be a good idea to talk to your doctor about why your pulse rate may be slightly high. It is very likely that this may be to do with the anxiety that you've mentioned which could benefit from therapy or medication. It would be worthwhile mentioning your dizziness and lightheadedness too as that can be related to your pulse rate and blood pressure. Take care. |

Normal heart rate is 60-100bpm so you're in the normal range. If you are worried though, I'd go see a doctor.
