Question Swollen Fingers - April 1st 2010, 05:39 AM

For the past month or so, I noticed that my fingers are beginning to swell. It first started with my left pointer finger. Last Friday, it took me ten minutes to get the ring off my right ring finger. They're both painful, and have noticed it's happening over night. I brought it to my boyfriend's attention who think's it might be diabetes. Should I make an appointment to see a doctor to be tested? I'm probably worrying over nothing, but it couldn't hurt right? I have been worrying about, but it's only two of my fingers now, but how long until the rest do the same. I've always had slim fingers, with the exception of my thumbs of course, and I know I haven't jammed them, I rarely do anything physical with my hands to wear that might happen. It's just frustrating. I thought maybe it could be from gaining weight, but I weighed myself and seen I haven't gained a pound in forever. Any thoughts, suggestions, comments? I would really appreciate the help! I'm a worry wart so please understand.

its not diabetes. i know someone who has diabetes and when her finger swell, all of the swell. it could be an infection. have you tried soaking them in hot water with salt? It could be other things too however so i agree you should go see a doctor.

i wonder when i'll finally jsut start accepting myself, when i'll stop saying i wish i could be like that person.

i have facebook, and myspace. and you can ask for it. :P

I haven't tried the hot water with salt. I will try that in the morning. But, like I said, how long before all my fingers start to swell, you know? It could happen, it just hasn't happened yet. But, every person is different too, so, it could still be a possibility. You know what I mean?

yeah i know what you mean. but really it could be all sorts of things. If you look up swollen fingers on google you get a lot of causes and a lot of what it could possibly be. the only way your going to know for sure is if you go see a doctor.

I'm from Chicago. Today was the first warm day. I would assume that the swelling would go down. Been about 3 weeks for the first finger that started, and a week with the second. I doubt it's heat.
