Operation? - April 7th 2010, 08:15 AM

So i was diagnosed with TMJ about 2 years ago. Basically, my jaw clicks like hell, locks, cant open straight, causes me a hell of a lot of pain and headaches.

I've already had 3 minor ops on it. And they worked temporarily-for about 3 months.

It's come back really bad again. I dont want the op again, it feels pointless as it's just going to come back. But its so painful.

Any suggestions?

Not much you can do until you get the proper surgery where they crack the jaw and realign it. Do it sooner than later so you dont have to have cartilage replacement also.

Yeah, I've had two surgeries on my jaw, and although I didn't have TMJ, what I had was very similar. After my second surgery where they broke the jaw and moved my top one forward (it was back too far) I barely ever experience clicking or anything of that sort like I used to beforehand. The only real way to fix this is to have the surgery where they break your jaw and reset it. It's really not a horrible surgery either, at least for me, I had no pain whatsoever. It's worth it.
