Feeling faint? - April 15th 2010, 10:23 AM

I feel faint alot latly. Mum said she thought it was because i wasnt eating enough. But it nearly always happens after ive had a fag.

Does anyone know what could be the cause? If it could be the smoking?

Thankyou.

Hey Jess,

When I used to smoke, I was feeling sick afterwards and faint. It could have something to do with the smokes. I would definitely try and stop smoking, or go see your doctor about it. Hope you're doing okay hun <3

Hey Jessica,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling faint a lot lately. The truth is, it's quite hard to know (without any professional experience) what is causing you to feel faint because it could be a few different things. Your mum is right in saying that it could potentially be that you're not eating enough if that's true - it's important to keep a balanced diet with three meals a day and maybe some healthy snacks in between, such as fruit, to keep your energy up and to hopefully help you from feeling faint so frequently.
It is also good that you've found a correlation between your smoking and your feeling faint though, which would indicate that they could be linked in some way - in which case it might be a good idea to try and stop or at least reduce your smoking.
I think that if this is persistent then it's probably best that you go to your doctor for some blood work.

Take care.

It could be the smoking, or it may be your diet ~ you could possibly be anaemic?? Either way if it begins to get more serious, get it checked out.

if it's happening after smoking, it's probably a nicotine headrush (I used to get it when I started smoking). If you're not eating enough then it could be a combination of the two. I would suggest getting some multi-vitamins with iron in them incase you are a bit anaemic and if it continues, I'd go and see a doctor to get it checked out.

Maybe mention it to someone at the hospital emergency room?

As it was said before, it could be your eating habits or the smoking. Like Stephanie said, try and reduce your smoking a bit. It may help.
