Ugh - April 16th 2010, 01:36 AM

So I've been struggling with weight. I went to the doctor's today since I need a physical for the job I'm going for and I heard how much I weighed and my first reaction was yikes. The thing is, I don't necessarily look as much as I weigh. I wanna lose weight but I just have no motivation. I really need to have some though because I don't wanna feel disgusting to myself anymore. Any advice?

maybe switch unhealthy snacks to healthier ones, like instead of a chocolate bar or something have a banana instead. Also try to eat less saturated fats, which can be found in red meats and dairy products and substitute them with beans, fish and white meats. Apart from this just eat plenty of fruit and veg and make sure your portion sizes are correct so you're not getting too much or too little.
Gentle excercise is also good, especially if you don't have much motivation like me. Maybe try going for a short walk every day, or if you'd normally drive to your local shops, walk instead.

Well instead of thinking about weight loss, think about healthy eating. Once you switch to healthy eating, the weight loss will come easily.
Eat fruits and vegetables and cut out unhealthy food. If you are hungry between meals, grab and apple instead of a bag of chips.

Also exercise is vital. Make sure you get sufficient exercise each day.

Hey there,

It seems as though you do want to lose weight and that you do want to find the motivation, so hopefully if you use losing weight or becoming healthier as motivation, things could be easier for you.
Honestly, I think that looking to make yourself healthier is an easier goal than losing weight. It is easier and more effective to make healthy lifestyle choices rather than to 'diet'. Try to avoid fattening or sugary foods and replace them with healthier ones instead. Try to introduce more fruits and vegetables into your diet. It is important to keep your diet balanced.
Try to keep moving and walk to more places, exercise can really help. Perhaps try and keep an hour of the day as your time to exercise.
