Hungry :( - April 26th 2010, 07:38 PM

I'm almost constantly hungry. I've been like this for about two months. I've ate loads today and I still want food ._____. I haven't felt full for ages :/ I just want food >.> What's going on?

This will sound weird - but are you thirsty? Try drinking some more water. Many times we mistake our thirst for hunger.

Also, are you eating healthy? Or you might be vitamin defecient, or lacking a certain vitamin.

I don't eat healthy at all tbh :/ I live of burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and chicken nuggets mostly :| I really should try and eat healthier. I drink a lot of water so I don't think I'm just thirty.

Try and eat carbohydrates they will fill you up pasta ect
and eat healthier

and get into a good routine, dont snack, just eat good whole meals a few times a day at the same time every day (harder than it sounds -.-!!) lol

As above poster said it could be thirst.

It could also be what type of foods your eating, they reckon having a bit of everything, like protein, carbs, sugars, dairy etc every day can help. If your not thirsty try sucking water lollies, or eating food with higher fluids in them such as

watermelon
peaches
any juicy fruits
tomatoes
any juicy vegatables

You could be eating to quickly, I've heard some where before that if you chew your food 50 times before swallowing can help fill you up.

Do you eat breakfast?

It says somewhere if i remeber correctly that you need to eat three meals a day if possible and snacks in between but good snacks like fruit.
If not possibly to eat little and often.

My eating routine is a mess I just eat when hungry (which seems to be a lot lately) I don't have "breakfast" really either. I eat pizza first thing in the morning if I want it :| Maybe I should start some sort of eating time table :/

Hey there,

I had this problem when I started my medication, and hopefully it should calm down within time. I really would recommend that you try to start eating a more balanced diet with three meals a day then perhaps some healthy snacks, such as fruit, in between meals if you're still hungry. Once you start eating regularly, hopefully you won't be as hungry.
Aside from eating a balanced diet, I'd recommend keeping busy and distracted - I know that helps me.

Have you tried having lots of small meals in the day. Like six small meals. I did this when i was on steroids and constantly hungry. Having a little bit at a time should help you stay fuller for longer.

Hey,
I kinda know how you feel - some foods make me even hungrier than I was to start with, which is a pain! Sometimes when we crave certain food we believe we're still hungry because we're not satisfied, or it may be because you're not filling up on the right things.
A healthier diet would probably help - foods with lots of fibre like oats fill you up for longer. Also, eating brekkie in the morning is supposed to stop you craving carbs throughout the day. Maybe making a food timetable will help you plan and control what you're eating. Don't go overboard with it - by all means have a snack if you get hungry, but try and choose carefully so you don't get tempted to eat more.
Savour what you eat, take time to enjoy and digest it - this is also meant to satisfy us and help control cravings. Hope this helps
