Nightmares? - June 21st 2010, 06:45 PM

ive had nightmares all my life, although, its never been a several times a night every night im going to kill you kinda thing. but lately, like, in about.. the last year and a month, theyve been pretty frequent and stuff. at first, i had a minor nightmare about once a week for a few weeks, and then as time went on, they kept getting worse and more frequent. about a month ago is when i started to have several nightmares a night every night, and two of them were reoccuring, and those two kept getting more and more frequent until May 30, when those were the only ones i had, but both more than one time that night. since then i havent had either of those two nightmares, but now instead, they are much worse and im afriad to fall asleep. the worst ones seem to come around 6:30 to 8 every morning. the last couple days ive stayed up as late as i can to fall into an exhausted sleep where im too tired to dream, and wake up before 6:30, but that hasnt helped. (mainly i think its because i havent been able to wake up before 6:30) but tomorro im starting some classes with my cousin, and i dont want to be all freaked out and tense all day for that. any ideas on what might help?

Hey There.

I hate it when nightmares do this to me - stupid mind tricks!!

Basically, make sure you come off all electrical devices (Computer & Phones) at least an hour before you sleep, other wise the electronic radiation keeps your mind awake (Something like that anyway).
Also, don't eat chocolate, caffeine, or sugary foods before sleeping - eat cereal if your hungry.

Try and make sure your tired out - do exercise during the day to help you sleep. And if your finding it hard getting off to sleep, read a book (Just not a scary one!)

I hope this helps

I'm still alive.
Must have been a miracle
It's been one hell of a ride
Destination still unkown
It's a fact of life: If you make one wrong move with a gun to your head
You better walk the line or you'll be left for dead.

I'm a runaway train on a broken track
I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back
Thats right.
I got away with it all and I'm still alive.
Let the end of the world come tumbling down.
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
As long as hot blood runs through my veins
I'm still alive.

Dern it! I did write a response then the computer crashed and I lost it

Right let me think ...

Nightmares happen. They are really suck-y huh? What can you do? Honestly, you dream about 5 to 12 times a night, so you are likely to get nightmares.

Firstly, they are there for a reason, and even reoccurring dreams have a meaning; all be it not the same meaning every time. All it is is your subconscious trying to tell you something. Find out what that something is and you might be free of nightmares.

When I was little I used to get horrible nightmares and one night I just sat up and said "I don't want nightmares tonight!" and I did that every night. Eventually, they started going hazy and then I stopped remembering them altogether. I won't happen over night. I still know if I've had one, but I don't remember it and find going to sleep again really easy.

If you have any questions, dreams really fascinate me, so drop me a pm and I'll see if I can find a meaning for you.

(((hugs)))

PS - Claire has some really good ideas too, electrical currents aren't good for you. And they prevent healthy sleep!!

So much for that idea ...
