Kinda embarrassing.. - June 28th 2010, 12:47 AM

Kay, well first off I'd like to say that I'm kinda embarrassed to post this. :S

Everytime I laugh REALLY hard, I always pee, kinda. Any..advice? Even if I go to the bathroom right before I laugh really hard, I just pee a little. Not like, full out pee, but yeah. It's really embarrassing, and I just don't know where else to ask. I dunno what I could do to stop it. I guess I just have bad bladder issues?

How old are you? I sort of had this problem when I was younger and grew out of it.
But yes I agree with the above, I'm sure you're perfectly fine.

I can understand your embarrassment, but it's nothing serious
I do believe that it may actually be a medical condition, but nothing that harms you in any way.
I would suggest talking to your doctor about it, and ask if there's anything that can be done

I have one friend who has labile effect, and that makes her laugh A LOT. She pees everytime she laughs, as well. Maybe go get tested for labile?

Hey there
I know that a lot of girls can have issues with this, it's perfectly normal. Seeing your doctor is a good idea, I'm glad you're going to do that.
It could also be that your pelvic muscles are a little weak at the moment so you could do some pelvic floor exercises for a couple of weeks and see if they help.
Take a look at this site, it'll tell you all you need to know about it

There is something you can do about it to try and help that you don't need to go to the doctor for. Kegel exercises will help to strengthen those muscles and will help control it! I had to do them after surgeries and they do help!

My sister has the same problem and she's around the same age as you. The doctor recommended that she do pelvic exercises if that helps? There's a special DVD that shows you how to do it, I can find the title if you want it...?

Re: Kinda embarrassing.. - June 29th 2010, 01:33 AM

Hi Amy,

Like those before me have said, typically this is just from weak pelvic floor muscles. There is an exercise called "Kegel Exercises" which put simply is:
Using the same muscle that you use to start and stop your pee stream, you relax and contract. So with an empty bladder pretend you are starting to pee and trying to stop.

*If you have trouble knowing what this is supposed to feel like. When you go to the bathroom, try to stop peeing. This is how you will do it just sitting down on your couch or a chair.*

Do this 15-20 times 2-3 times a day. And then just keep it up once the problem when you laugh stops. If it doesn't and you are frequently peeing, burning when you pee, etc. you could have a bladder infection which can also cause this. In this case you need to see your doctor and get some antibiotics.

Hope this helps

As far as I know, totally okay and absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. Completely normal

Yep, Kegel excercises are the way to go. lots of women suffer from this actually more foten than you'd think and although it can be embarrassing, the pelvic floor excercises help a lot.
