This has been bothering me for quite a while now.
I have REALLY oily hair and skin. Yesterday, I used an oil-absorbing wipe and there was so much grease on my face that it soaked right through. I shower twice a day and my skin/hair is STILL that oily. I don't wear heavy makeup most of the time. It's really disgusting. :/ I've tried using face cleansers with salicylic acid and using dry shampoo/baby powder on my hair. It just doesn't work. What can I do? “A man said to the universe “Sir! I exist!” “However,” replied the universe “The fact has not created in me a sense of obligation.” |

I'm on the Pill, and I also have some cream with benzoyl peroxide in it that I was prescribed. They're barely helping. :/

Carry face powder around to take the shine off your face at least. With the hair you can get specialist shampoo for hair that is too greasy, and I wouldn't bother using conditioner at all tbh.

Hey there,
Your best bet is to completely cut out make up, anything perfumed on your face, any moisturiser, and anything else you may be using on your face, and just using what you've been prescribed for a couple of weeks and seeing how you go on. It is most likely your hormones working, and nothing at all to worry about. When you shower are you using natural products on your hair? Nothing with too many chemicals, and the same on your face? Don't hesitate to PM me. I've been through something pretty similar myself. Marie. |

I agree with what everyone else has said, but its also possible that you'd benefit from not showering so much. If you're washing your face and hair a lot, you're taking away the natural oils, so your skin will produce excess in between washes to compensate. Choose a shampoo that is aimed at oily hair, and perhaps consider seeing your doctor about being put on hormone control like the pill.

What shampoos do you use? Try lots of different types of shampoo/conditioner if you haven't already that are aimed at greasy hair, and remember to only condition the end of your hair and not the roots. Some dry shampoos are quite nice, too.

Try staying away from the moisturizers and such.. try using plain soap (unscented) and water for a while and see if that helps. Sometimes the moisturizers and the face creams with all the 'added nutrients' and stuff can make your skin more oily instead of less.

Hey,
I have really oily hair and skin as well. When I was getting my hair cut once, the hair stylist suggested that I use [Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo], but not the conditioner. It's specifically for normal and oily hair. Do not use conditioner. Ever. It makes your hair get oily much faster than when you don't use it. As for oily skin, I've tried a slew of different products. And sometimes benzoyl peroxide just isn't enough or the right thing for you. I use a gel called clindamycin phosphate that works pretty well. I'm not sure if it's the same in Canada, but here you need to have a prescription for it. Along with the prescription things, I use [Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Daily Cleanser] and [StayClear® Deep Cleansing Pads]. I'm not sure if you've used them before, but I'd try them if you haven't. Hope I helped at least a little.
