Skin irritation after using bleach >.< - August 28th 2010, 04:31 PM

I'm a part-time cleaner in a pub. I use bleach to clean the toilets. I wear gloves but still get really itchy/red skin afterwards. It sometimes peels off a little when I scratch it

I'm probably a little allergic to the stuff :| Should I put anything on my hands after I use bleach to stop the irritation?

Hey there,

When you use the bleach are you using it with no gloves or anything? Get a pair of those bright yellow marigold gloves or something similar in future if you don't already have some. When you've finished cleaning them, wash your hands thoroughly with water and soap. There's not really a lot I can think of to put on your hands. Your doctor could perhaps prescribe you something if he thinks you are allergic. Try to stay clear from scratching it, too, this will only make it worse.

Don't hesitate to message me.
Marie.

It's not a latex allergy is it? If you're wearing gloves they could be making your hands go funny. If not, I'd say just wash them with mild soap after and moisturise them Try that...E40 I think? The cream for poorly skin Or Nivea...that old school one in the blue tub. Works wonders

Just a hop, skip and a jump.
