I have trich, which is a hair pulling, skin picking "behavior."
My mom won't let me get help..and my boyfriend is trying all he can to stop me.
Does anyone else have this..or have any advice to stop it on my own?
But those sequins on her dress.. boy, they threw you over the edge.
I had a freind in high school that had this, he also use to chew his knuckles... things he did was wear skin colored bandages on the tips of his fingers so he couldn't pick at himself and also on his knuckles. And since he was a guy he would just get his hair cut really short and just never let it get longer... and last time i talked to him he is doing alot better and most of his little corks r gone.
Since your most likely not gonna want to cut your hair off, try wearing a hair or keeping it up in a pony tail or something. Also keep your nails cut as short as you can.
I've tried putting my hair up, and I pull my bangs. My nails are short as can be, but somehow I still bite them, and the sides of my fingers are constantly bleeding, I'll subconciously rip bandaids off.
My boyfriend just bought me a "Tangle" which is a stress toy, hopefully that'll keep my hands busy.
Thank you!

I agree that getting something to fiddle with is a good idea. I pull my hair out and claw myself in my sleep, so I wear a hat and gloves. If you wear gloves you can't pick/scratch or pull hair, but it can get a little hot. Otherwise I'd suggest trying to tape up your finger with surgical tape or plasters - that way you can't get a grip on anything.
