Wrist problem -
September 2nd 2010, 09:51 AM
My right wrist has been hurting for a bit but it wasn't much really and it only hurt if I did certain things, such as push-ups with palms on the floor. If I do push-ups on knuckles or on fingers, then that pain went away. Those push-ups we do for our dojo anyways so it was no big deal.
I'm not exactly sure what I did to it recently but now it hurts a lot more, even if I'm doing nothing. The pain is strongest at the joint. At first I thought maybe I screwed it up by punching improperly but I haven't done much punching the time it started hurting so I'm ruling that out. Just opening the hand up and closing the hand hurts it, moving the wrist up, down and side-to-side hurts even more. The pain sometimes goes a bit down the arm when I move it those ways and hurts the most if I move it up or down even a little. I attempted stretching the wrist but couldn't even begin because the pain was too much. The confusing thing though is touching the wrist hurts a lot and the back of the hand is a little swollen but not a lot. Swelling is mostly at the wrist joint but even then, it's not very noticable unless you compare it with the other wrist.
Today I bought a wrist brace hoping that supporting it would help but the fact that it touches the wrist makes the wrist hurt, although the support does make it hurt less.
Does anyone have any ideas what it might be? Please don't tell me to go to the doctors, I already know that as it's common-sense for a four-year old. I may go in a day or two if it doesn't get better anyways so telling me to go is useless to me.
The main concern is that my right hand is my writing hand and classes start on September 7th. I did some writing today for making some grocery lists and a small list hurt like hell. I've sprained the wrist before but it was never this bad. Carrying stuff weighing a few pounds hurts like hell also.
Any ideas on what may help it or what it could be?
