Argh, this is awkward - toilet problems? - September 4th 2010, 04:32 PM

Okay, long story short, I'm having "toilet problems." So I'm just gonna say it - I haven't pooed properly for ages. When I go to the loo, nothing happens. I don't think I'm constipated. I can't feel anything there. It's not like I need to poo but I can't. There's just nothing there, as far as I can tell. But it's been like that for a few days now. And I'm worried that it's all gonna come at once and, well, take me by suprise

I'm wondering if it's a psycological thing, because I'm sharing a bathroom with someone for the first time since I was 14, and I'm paranoid about them hearing me, but even when I'm comfortable or when they're not in, I can't get anything to happen.

Any idea what's wrong? Is it my diet maybe? Anyone else experienced this before?

So many things can cause a change in bowel habits. It does sound like you're slightly constipated though. If you are eating little fiber and too much junk food then you may want to try and incorporate some more fiber into your diet. It could also be from the stress of having to share a bathroom, and if that's the case it will improve in time. If you're worried or this continues too long/ starts to become uncomfortable you may want to consider seeing a doctor. Otherwise, fiber and even more exercise and increasing your water intake should help!

This happened to me after my 3rd surgery. I couldnt go for about 2 weeks. I almost went to the hospital but what you should do is clean yourself out. Go buy some pineapple juice heat up in the mocrowave and drink it. It will make you go within an hour or so.

Then for now on make sure you eat plenty of fiber. I get Fiber One cereal bars. They also have cereals.

I hope this helps you out. Oh and also, one doctor said you shouldnt go longer than three days without making a bowel movement.

If it happends again its most likely constipation(your plugged up and unable to drop the kids off at the pool(sorry if that phrase offends anyone) aka go poo
try eating things with high fiber, if that doesnt work try a stool softener
it sounds gross but it helps me
i'm quiet emabrassed by this but since i take so much medication i tend to get consipated alot so sometimes if it bad enough i will take a tool softener, laxietives should only be taken as a last resprt, trust me, you don't want to take a laxietive unless you are extremly umcomfortable and you haven't pooed in a week, and if you do take a laxietive make sure your right next to your bathroom.

I was born with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis, it causes tumors to grow in my body on nerves,my spine, and under my skin. I have a tumor in the thalamus region of my brain. I also have heartburn, hypothyroidism and secondary adrenal insufficiency these are under control with medication.
I also have hip dysplasia and scoliosis.

Hello
I've experienced this when I was in a friend's house and in the school, I have to go home just too have a bowel movement. Though I also advice you to go to the doctor for a diagnosis. If you want, you could also try some herbal medicines such as a tea specifically used to have a continuous bowel movement even castor oil (warning: it's hard to swallow) as my mom tried it and it worked

Try more fibre. That might help.
