Oh em gee, it's funky teeth - March 3rd 2009, 02:28 PM

This is more of a curious rather than worried post, because Iím in no pain at all at the moment. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago my wisdom teeth came through, and I donít know if this is weird or normal or anyone else has had an experience like this. I only have two sets of wisdom teeth, both on the bottom, is anyone else like that? Theyíre both very far back, basically at the jaw joint, and I donít know if theyíre meant to be that far back but at the moment they arenít causing any problems. They weren't predicted to cause any problems but they seem to have moved all my teeth forward. They don't seem to be squishing anything, so I doubt they're impacted. They both came through at exactly the same time, and both took about three days to get from under the gum to what seems to be fully formed? Like, they look just like every other tooth now. I have friends whose wisdom teeth took a month plus to get to that stage, so is that normal? Also, I didn't have any pain in the gums they were coming through at all. I have very sharp teeth edges, and a couple of months ago split one of the gums above one of the wisdom teeth so my dentist could see it beginning to grow up then, so maybe there was no pressure? I guess my wisdom teeth might have taken months to push through, and it just feels sudden because the gums weren't sore or tender at all. What I had instead was a really terrible bone rather than muscle ache in my jaw, the other teeth on one side of my face and up to the eye-socket on that side. My other teeth felt really sore and tender and one of my teeth, which was broken and then fixed, making it a bit bulkier than my other teeth, complained a lot and felt squished, making me worry that the 'fake' bit of the tooth had slipped or I had an infected tooth. I also had this really terrible (bad enough to stop me sleeping for two nights in a row) pain radiating along the bones of my lower face, my ear and the muscles of my neck. Within a week, this had stopped, but the lower gums on one side felt numb and paralysed for another two days, although this might have been because of the painkillers that I was taking (that really, really didn't work, I might add). I'm a hypochondriac-type of funness, but I'm more interested than concerned since it seems to have settled and stopped hurting now. Is it the wisdom teeth that caused it? Has anyone experienced anything similar? Blah? My mother had hers out and my father thinks he had something similar, but can't really remember, and everyone else just seems to have had theirs out or just had teething gum pains. Mine very obviously aren't impacted and aren't causing me any more pains. The uni dentist has a waiting list the size of my arm and I'm seeing my regular one next month, so I didn't see a dentist when it hurt and now don't see the point if I have less than a month to wait until my checkup. Other than that, I wonder what it was? What do you think? : )
