Weird Energy During Nighttime? - April 25th 2011, 07:30 AM

I'm really confused about this. I often go through my days drowsy as hell - the only thing I ever seem to want to do is sleep during the day. But by the time nighttime comes, I'm suddenly awake. Falling asleep is hopeless. I now have a nasty habit of almost pulling all nighters consistently.

I'm just confused as to why. It's really frustrating because I have to do things during the day, and I hate barely being able to function. But yet when I'm supposed to sleep I can't; and it's not even like I AM tired but can't sleep, I just simply am energetic and alive at nighttime.

I'm worried. I know it's not good for me. Even though it gives me more time to work on things and whatnot, I know it's not good for my health. Has anyone else ever had the same problem?

Yes, lots of people go through this. There is a way to treat this though. Practice going to bed earlier. Even though you don't feel tired, you will eventually fall asleep. Your sleep pattern is completely off track. Once you get into the habit of falling asleep during the night, you won't have any problems. Do this for a week or so. Just try to get to bed an hour earlier everyday, until you get to your target bedtime. Try to not have lots of caffeine in your diet. Along with that, don't eat a lot of foods that contain sugar. If you can't sleep, do not go on the computer, or watch television. They will stimulate your mind to stay awake. Make sure everything is off your bedroom. If you still experience problems, talk to your doctor. He might diagnose you with some sort of sleep disorder. He should be able to further help you. I understand how irritating this is. Not being able to sleep at night. Daytime drowsiness really sucks. .

Knowledge is half the battle.
