I've had x-rays at the dentists and they've never asked me to take them out or anything. I mean, I've had my lip and tongue done, it appears on the x-ray but it wasn't a problem.

For x-rays it won't be an issue, but for the surgery to remove your wisdom teeth they will ask you to take it out. Or more than likely you will be able to wear the clear retainer as long as there's no metal.

If its flipped up into your nose then I think you'll be fine and you shouldn't have to remove it.
Good luck with the surgery

They would want you to take it out if you leave the metal horseshoe barbell in. If you have the clear plastic or bioflex retainer in it shouldn't be an issue. Most surgeons, people of the like, will not let you wear metal jewelry because it could interfere with what they are using to help stop bleeding since it's an electrosurgical unit. They don't want you getting burned by the current, etc. But like I said, they shouldn't have an issue with it if it's not metal.

As Morgan said, maybe plastic/acrylic/wood jewelry, basically anything not metal, would be a better bet. You should probably call ahead and ask still, though.
