No Period - March 9th 2009, 04:20 PM

Ok...So hmm...

I've never actually missed one before, i've been up to 2 weeks late, but i've never skipped a whole month before. I generally have a 27day cycle, lasting 5 days. I had one January 20th. Then havent had one since. I wasnt on the pill, but have been using protection, started on the pill begining of march. So my first thought was pregnancy...as such I started looking for sighns...tender, slightly swollen breasts, frequent urination, hot/cold flushes, nausea...all seemed to have them, but reckon was just imagination.

I took a test last week, at a family planning center, it came out negative. RELIEF.

So now what? I've been stressed, but can that make you miss it totally? I've been getting slight stabbing pain in my side. I'm worried that something is amiss now.

I dont want to go to the doctors, as they think i've been on the pill for ages, and i never got round to going on it, but dont want to have to explain. I've been safe, using protection and things.

But yeh, is it normallish to miss one totally? Any possible reasons?

Yes, stress can cause you to miss your period completely. Just try to take a few deep breaths. Talk to your school's nurse or a doctor if you're really worried, abd you can even visit your local planned parenthood or health department if you want a blood test done to make sure you're not pregnant.

If you're having side pains, it may be good for you to visit the health department or your doctor...just let them know it's about your side, not your period.

All different things can cause a missed period. Stress or medication. Or, your cycle can just slowly alter its dates & be either early or late, depending on your body function.

A number of things can delay your period, including stress, weight loss/gain, pregnancy(obv), and the list probably goes on...

But none of us could tell you why your period is missing. You'd have to go and see your GP. You will have to tell them about if you have/haven't been taking the pill because that could affect it, but if thay ask why, you could always just tell them it's for personal; reasons or something. You don't have to tell that any details if you don't want to. They won't be mad.
