They are basically a sac of tissue inside an ovary. Most Ovarian cysts will disappear within a few weeks without treatment. In some cases surgery in necessary to remove them, but you'd have to discuss this with your doctor to see what she/he thinks as to whether you'll need any treatment.

Theres some more info on it here;

both me and my best friend have had one...they're not a big deal. mine was quite big i had an ultra sound then was admitted to hospital for surgery and they got it out, the surgery didn't hurt at all, in fact, i felt 100 times better after the surgery than i did before it. My friends was quite small and hers exploded inside her which was quite painful for her at the time but then she felt no more pain after that and the excess stuff inside her from the cyst just went away.

hope that helps, dont worry too much about it

You might want to check out [THIS] website for more information on ovarian cysts. It looks really helpful. :]

Ovarian cysts are sucky! But they aren't dangerous, certainly. I have them, several actually, and it has caused me to develop a condition known as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which isn't fun. It causes weight gain due to insulin resistance, extra body hair, menstrual problems, and acne problems. BUT. Not everyone with ovarian cysts has PCOS (in fact, not everyone with PCOS symptoms has cysts.) If you aren't suffering from these symptoms, consider yourself lucky! I hope all goes well for you.

Loads of love,
Emily

My sister had this when she was around 12. From what I hear, it's very painful, but almost always harmless. Hers just went away after a while, and if not they just operate to take them out. I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck.

You may need to talk to your doctor about what kind of cyst he suspects you to have. I've had "fluid" cysts (which tend to burst monthly) for four years now, and they put me onto a progesteron based birth control to help with the control of the development of cysts.

I had this, so did my mom. My OB/GYN said that i shouldn't worry about it, just to get an inter-vaginal (i think) ultrasound to make sure they were ok. they were. she said that LOTS of women get them and they almost always go away one their own within the month. I think the main reason I had to get the ultrasound was because There's a history of ovarian cancer in my family. Talk to your doctor, and if it makes you feel better get an ultra sound! better safe than sorry.
good luck!

PM me any time, ok? I'm always here to help.
