If you find that you have to take frequent naps, or you wake up feeling tired I would see a doctor for a blood test. I had this problem last winter and it turned out to be a B12 deficiency. Your best bet is to get a blood test to make sure you're not deficient in something like Iron or B12.

I get my bloods done every 4 weeks, I just think its the meds knocking me out...even though I just had a nap for about an hour.

Hey-

What kind of meds are you on? Perhaps speak to your doctor about that. Some meds, you should take in the morning, some at night, and it's not a universal side effect, some meds could make one tired, and energize another.
Even if you do get your blood drawn (Which, I would kind of assume you're on something like Lithium then? In which case that can really mess with your sleeping) they may not be checking for the proper things. Like, I had my blood drawn a few months before, but then I had to have it drawn again to look for anemia, because they hadn't checked for that before.

Try to go to bed, and wake up at a consistent time. Stay away from caffeine, and see if either of those help you out. =)

Good luck!
Maria.

Make sure you have breakfast, drink as much as you can so you don't get dehydrated. Also, make sure you don't over-sleep. If you're sleeping any more than 8 or 10 hours a night, you'll start to feel groggy and it won't help your tiredness at all.

Re: Tired all the time.... - March 13th 2009, 02:36 AM

i take a few meds as well that make me tired all the time... try getting some vitamins from your local health shop... also talk to your doctor about the possibility of chronic fatigue syndrome or glandular fever, both of which cause chronic tiredness. I have chronic fatigue and think excersising in really small amounts when your tired can lift your energy levels or eating big meals with natural sugars, keep away from artifical sugars as they give you a high then drop you low really quickly

hope i was of some help

I suffer from the same symptoms. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is what I blame for it (see more here):
http://www.cdc.gov/CFS/

It can not only manifest itself physically, but emotionally. In fact, psychological issues are often behind chronic fatigue and insomnia. In addition to talking to your doctor about the possible effect your meds are having, maybe taking a look inside yourself to see if any everyday stresses are taking their toll would be beneficial.

Loads of love,
Emily

If you're always tired, you should probably talk to your doctor. Maybe they can alter the dosage of your medicine or find another medicine that isn't as drowsy?

The only way to know for sure if something may be going on with your nutrients or if it could possibly be your medications would be to consult with your doctor. Let them know how you're feeling, the medicines you're taking, when you usually take them, that sort of thing. You may also want to keep a journal to log in what your fatigue level is from 0-10, when you sleep, for how long, etc. It can be a nusiance but it can be very helpful.
