Anyone had cortisone injections? - August 24th 2011, 03:18 PM

Well, today I had a cortisone injection in my hip, and not having much luck with it.
After, I walked through the hospital and fainted. Had so many people surrounding me, taking my vital obs. They wouldn't let me go unless someone took me home as they were worried i'd fall again.
My question is, how long did you experience discomfort? I know the injections can be anywhere, but in my hip it's really hard to move it. I was told it could make the pain worse for a few days. My leg kind of feels dead and I can only walk with my walking stick so bed rest it seems is the best answer.
Any problems you've had because of it?

I think I've had cortisone, but I've had so many drugs I can't come up with what my reaction to it was. I'll ask my mother later.

Sorry I wasn't more help!

The first time I had a cortisone injection, it was in my ankle and they did it before they actually knew what the problem was. Consequently, they ended up shooting the cortisone into a ganglion cyst which grew and wrapped itself around my tendon. Because of that, my pain got a LOT worse than it was originally.

I did have a cortisone injection a couple of weeks ago on my coccyx. It did nothing to reduce my swelling or pain. After a few days, I had this stabbing pain where I got the injection (which my doctor couldn't explain because she used a small needle) that happens occassionally.

I haven't had good luck with the cortisone and I don't plan on ever getting an injection again. If it's cortisone or die, I'll choose death.
