Not sure what this is... -
September 16th 2011, 11:17 PM
![]() I noticed this sort of weird discoloring on my skin. I showed it to my boyfriend, and he thought it looked like a mosquito bite. This was a few days ago. Now, I noticed that my entire right leg is painful. Sort of like what you'd feel if you pulled a muscle. What could this possibly be? I also showed it to my mom who said it also looked like a mosquito bite, but I'm worried. I've never seen anything like this before. I thought maybe I had gotten bitten by a spider, but I googled spider bites, and nothing matched the image. Anyone know what it might be? |

I can't tell but are there open spots or is it all underneath the skin?
From what I can see it definitely looks like a spider bite. It reminsd me of a brown recluse spider bite. Does it itch? Do you have a fever or nausea? Keep an eye on the bite for the next day. Recluse bites are very dangerous and can get worse in just a few hours. If you notice the color reddening, or turning black blue or purple, get to the ER asap. A brown recluse bite is NOTHING to joke about. Otherwise, I'm really not sure. So you have gray hair and you're only 26

I know what a brown recluse bite looks like. My sister was bitten when she was younger, and she had shown me pictures of it. It was super gross.
I haven't noticed any bite marks, either. It all seems to be under the skin. It was itchy before, it it isn't anymore and I noticed this a few days ago. If it was a recluse bite, I would have gotten worse a while ago. |

Alright, so recluse is out.
It could have just been a skin rash caused by some irritation. Could be anything from something rubbed against it a lot, perhaps a stitch in a pair of jeans that rubbed it. Has it gotten any better? I'd say to keep it covered and it should probably go away on its own. Hopefully that's all it is.

I hope so too. Right now, it looks like a scrape I would have gotten as a kid if I fell down
The pulled muscle I'm feeling could have come from yesterday. I was on my feet pretty much all day, and bending up and down to pick up stuff. We had a bbq at my boyfriend's, and we played a drinking game called Beer Frisbee. Obviously, we are no champs when it comes to throwing a frisbee, so there was a lot of bending down to pick it back up. If the pain persists, or gets worse, I will either contact my doctor or go to the ER to get it checked out. Thanks for the reply though! I appreciate it |

This reminds me of marks I've had when I've trapped my skin in stuff, if you get what I mean? Where it's not bruised but like a series of red marks under the skin. If you don't feel ill, it's probably nothing to worry about, but just keep an eye on it.
