Why am I sleeping so much? - October 2nd 2011, 07:17 PM

I'm not sure when it started, but recently I have been sleeping a lot. Like...A LOT. One day I slept for probably 15 hours. :/ Other days I usually end up sleeping 9-12 hours.

Also, I might sleep really well one night. Like, 8-10 hours. And I'm wide awake when I get up. But a little less than 2 hours later I'm sleepy again. This is a daily thing.

I do have Ulcerative Colitis (in remission) and I also suffer from anxiety (however I've been pretty relaxed lately).

Why am I sleeping so much?

If you suffer with anxiety I would usually attribute it to that. However, if you feel you have been relaxed lately, it could be that you are going through a growth spurt and your body is finding this tiring.

If it persists for more than a few weeks, consider speaking to your doctor, as it could be a symptom of something else.

I have the same problem. I want to sleep for like 12+ hours, but I can't. You're not the only one (:

You could be OVER sleeping, that can make you tired just like not getting enough sleep can.

Also, it could be something like chronic fatigue or anything really. Best bet, see your doctor about it

I agree with what everyone else has said. Also, keep in mind it could be you are not getting enough physical exercise, which can make you feel tired despite sleeping plentifully the night before.

I would suggest seeing a doctor as he may be able to give you medicine to help. If you aren't keen on the meds idea, remind yourself you can ween yourself off them (with doctor approval) once things are under control.


So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...
