Knee Pain >.< -
October 13th 2011, 06:02 PM
Right oh, chaps. This isn't a new thing, it's been lurking around since maybe April time. I'm seeing my GP next week for a med review, so I am going to ask him about it, but in the mean time.....
I get knee pain. It's driving me bloody crackers. It's only on my right knee, and it feels like it's inside, if you get me? Like, under the kneecap? Like I said, I've had it for months now, but it seems to be getting worse. I originally thought it was a stress injury from running up the stairs so much at work but it hasn't got better with rest. [Like, 3 months worth] It's a dull ache but it DOES hurt, and it's making stairs, walking uphill/downhill or bending really painful. The only thing I thought of was that about 2 years ago, I fell over a fence [I know....It was embarassing] and most of my weight went down on that knee, and it took forever to heal. I had my arm X-rayed because we thought it was broken, but my knee seemed OK. It bruised but didn't swell, and I had a pretty nasty cut on it, but it didn't seem all that bad. It doesn't hurt to touch, but it's getting on my nerves now. Any ideas before I see a doc? Edit: P.S. I have always had very 'clicky' joints. Y'know, if I stand up...it all clicks, especially my knees and ankles. Related? Hmm? ![]() Just a hop, skip and a jump. |

All of my joints click as well and it causes pain. I went to physical therapy for my knees because they rotate the opposite way? (That's what the Dr. said, I don't even know what it means
) And they gave a bunch of exercise ideas to strengthen the ligaments and make it so it doesn't hurt as bad. A year after leaving physical therapy, I'm back at square one. So maybe you could ask for some exercises that will help with your knee pain, cause it very well could be caused by the clicking of the joints. Or ask for a referral to some long-term physical therapy... maybe an xray. Hope it gets resolved soon. x

HAHAHAHA. Nope. I thought it might be runner's knee at first, looking at the symptoms, but I'm realllllllllly NOT a sports person. My co-ordination is just plain horrific, so sports are a no-no.

This site has exercises you can do for knee pain.
Now, Runner's Knee is not just for sporty people, Joanna. It can happen by doing a lot of bending down. It can happen to people with flat feet. Or even people who have weak thigh muscles. We can't diagnose you though, nor should you diagnose yourself. You should see a doctor. Now, for the pain ice the knee for 15 minutes often. This will help any swelling as well as numb the knee. Taking acetaminophen (Advil, Ibuprofen, etc) can also help swelling and hopefully the pain too. Use elastic bandages around your knee (not a brace preferably). This will at least give it some support for now. So you have gray hair and you're only 26
that's just another reason I love you... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I still suggest a doctor, but in the meantime ice like I said, and Ibuprofen, Advil, or Motrin. A knee wrap. And resting your knee. As well as try those stretches!
Hopefully the pain will start to fade but if it does not, see a doctor.
