Lumpy lump. - October 23rd 2011, 09:56 PM

Hey guys. To begin with im a massive hypocondriact and I usually think im going to die with the slightest thing. It used to be really bad but the last 2 - 3 years ive been fine until 3 days ago.

I found a small lump on the top part of my chest. I notcied the lump after starting a 5 days routine at the gym? Im pretty worried. Obviously the first thing that comes to my mind is cancer because im cup half empty when it comes to things like that. Im going to drop into the doctor tomorrow but tonight im quite worried, was looking for some help. Reasurrance?

Thanks guys much love :-)

Could you describe the lump a little bit more? Like what does it feel like and look like? Redness? Does it hurt when you touch it? That kind of stuff.

I'm glad you're seeing a doctor though! That will help a lot more than I can.

Nope no pain, no redness nothing. You wouldn't notice it unless you ran your finger along my chest. And its above where the muscle in my chest is. Thats the best I can explain it really. Hope that helped?

Is it kind of right down the middle of your chest, and really hard? Lol... if that's what it is, then it's the bottom part of where both halves of your ribcage meet. Just a bone holding them together.

It's natural than when people first hit the gym, they examine their bodies more carefully and are more critical/perceptive.

Not sure if I've hit the target though. Probably not.

Thanks for the reply mate but no Its pretty much just above the location of where your heart is on your chest.

My head is telling me it is almost a 100% chance it is a result of working my chest 2-3 times that week and causing it but ofcourse I am no doctor and therefore I worry

Chances are, it's perfectly benign and you have nothing to be concerned about. So just take it easy, and let the doctor have a look tomorrow. Don't worry yourself, keep calm

Okay. I hope it's nothing. Let me know if you want to talk about stuff anymore. Try not to worry yourself--I bet you'll be fine.

It doesn't sound serious, but it's good you're seeing a doctor. Just wouldn't worry about it too much. Keep us updated though!

Ahem... doctors can say that quite often. There is a post-code thing going on with GPs and the NHS, which I haven't kept track of recently.

But the difference was striking. I was registered in a clinic in South London, and grew some suspicious looking mole on my skin over the summer after sunbathing (sometimes correlated with skin cancer). Doc said: "don't worry... happens to everyone as they grow older". I didn't buy it, because already once before, I was growing severe verucas on my left foot, which stared spreading under the toenails... and I was told "not to worry" by a different doc. in the same clinic. Had to have them removed privately.

Two months later in a North London clinic, where I re-registered (step dad had a house there), no fuss, they didn't even ask questions... I went there, showed them it, got an appointment 2 days later and had it surgically and professionally removed.

I'm just saying... don't trust them. Do some research into what your local clinic is like.

And google didn't show me anything constructive for "burst muscle"... so I wasn't meaning to be rude or anything, but I simply don't understand what burst muscle refers to exactly. Torn muscle perhaps? Muscle cramp? From what you say, I assume it doesn't hurt, which would rule out those two... so really I'm lost.

Re: Lumpy lump. - October 28th 2011, 01:32 PM

Well, at the end of the day I can only go on what proffesionals are telling me. I understand where you are coming from dude but everyone is saying the same thing. The x-ray report said everything is fine etc and I need to go and have a chat with the doctor in a few days about it. I think its mainly because I haven't got any other symptoms as of yet.

We shall see.
