Weight Loss Program/Camp - November 26th 2011, 02:38 AM

I've been doing some research online about different types of these camps... not sure how effective they are.

Some questions....

1. Do you have to be overweight to go to a camp?
2. What kind of person benefits from a weight loss camp? (Like a description of the personality of someone)
3. What are some of the negatives of going to a weight loss camp?
4. How long do you need to go in order to see results?
5. Do they monitor exactly how much you eat? Can you eat less?
6. Who runs places like these?

I don't know personally, but I can tell you what I've found in research.

1. No camp seems to specify.
2. Pretty much anyone. If you want to lose weight, then you should benefit.
3. Some of the "fat" camps are hard core and when you get out, you then don't know what to do. So you go back to eating like you were before. Actual weight loss camps and resorts are best and ones which teach you nutrition and not just exercise.

4. It looks like generally most are 4-8 weeks.
5. It depends on the camp. The "fat" camps usually monitor EVERYthing. Some weight loss camps say they don't monitor you, but make you keep a journal of how much you ate. And you can eat as much as you want of vegetables and certain soups.
6. Again, it depends. Some are people who lost weight themselves, others are people who worked in the medical profession.

I think they are effective as long as you go to one that says htey have nutritional information provided to you, are not severely strict on you so you don't fall back into old habits, and who offer you some time to relax during your stay.

When you get home you won't be exercising non-stop like all the camps, so the good ones know this and try to accommodate for that.
