Lower back pain. - February 19th 2012, 10:52 AM

Last night, for no apparent reason, my back started hurting. I went to try to sit down and screamed in agony. My boyfriend had to help me slowly lower myself onto the bed and get me to lie down. The only way I could be the slightest bit comfortable was to lay completely flat on my back. Couldn't sleep very well as I can only sleep curled up on my side, and I was supposed to be going out for the day today with the bf but he flat out refused to take me because he could see how much pain I was in. I felt like I ruined his day. I've tried getting up but i'm in so much pain that I have to give up and lay back down. Can't be anything but purely straight. Thought it might have gotten easier by the morning but no, it hasn't.
I didn't do anything to injure it. Didn't sit in a weird position, didn't lift anything, didn't twist any way.
Its a mystery, and I don't know what to do.

Any ideas of how to be more comfortable? I feel like i'm going to split in two when I move.

The best way to be comfortable with back pain is to be lying flat on your back. However, it's not ideal when trying to get up. There is the chance it could be your kidneys? You may have an infection/stone. Does it hurt when you pee? Is the pain in the center of your lower back or is it to one side? This will determine whether it's skeletal or muscular or other

You need some ibuprofen and strong ones! If the pain is giving you too much hassle then go to A+E. They'll be able to find out what is causing the intense pain. I'd understand if you had pulled something but as you said you've not done anything to hurt it.

I hope you feel better soon <3

It's in the centre of my lower back. It didn't hurt when I peed, but the worst pain was from actually trying to sit on the toilet. My body seriously doesn't like me! Now that my hips doing better it decided that it wanted something else to hurt.

I've taken the normal ibuprofen, don't have anything else in the house!
I'll consider going to a&e if it really becomes uncomfortable, but you know what WG is like

Haha I do! If you have a walk-in-centre go there first or an urgernt care centre. The nearest Urgent care centre is Hemel I think. If you go there first then you skip a+e and end up straight in AAU xxx
