Constant Hunger! (Maybe ED triggering? I don't know) - February 21st 2012, 09:25 PM

For a few days now, even after eating a big meal I'm hungry again really fast. As little as half an hour after feeling totally stuffed, I'm off looking for more food. This is really unlike me since generally when I'm at home (or basically not with my girlfriend) I don't tend to eat that much. Maybe something after I get up, a snack in the afternoon, and either a late dinner or a sandwich later on. Yesterday I had 5 pancakes for breakfast (I made too much mix and no one else wanted any) but then mum wanted me to make cakes for her so I ended up eating a load of butter icing while I was doing it, then had some jelly, and then soup for dinner, and then another dinner later on. It's so strange and really frustrating because it makes me feel kinda gross to be eating so much.
Does anyone know why I'm so hungry? I was ranting to my dad about it and he started telling me horror stories about tapeworms, but I looked them up and they generally cause lack of appetite, thank God.
Any help is appreciated, at this rate I'll be a whale by Tuesday.

Oh, and this really isn't meant to violate the food diary rule, it's just to show the difference and explain that I'm eating so much more for no apparent reason. Edit it if you feel it needs it.

Your father was right in that certain medical conditions can increase one's appetite, although tapeworms would not be one of them. A few things you can check on yourself are blurry vision, increased thirst, increased urination and excretion (would be cause for concern if there is no such increase given your increased food intake), raised body temperature with possible sweating, swelling of hands, feet or limbs and whether you're taking any medications. If you find yourself feeling full after eating one food but then have hunger for a different food, that is normal. I cant say whether it's normal to feel as hungry as you are after eating because this requires more information about the food, including portion size, although that is something the TH rules are pissy about. Are you also drinking more fluids or only eating more food?

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

Your post is fine

I agree with the above poster, it definitely depends on the types of food and proportions.

One simple thing it could be is dehydration. Often times this will make you think you are hungry, when you're just dehydrated. Increase your water intake. Another thing you could try to increase to see if it helps is protein (seafood, white poultry, eggs, pork tenderloin, dairy (choose skim or 1% to get the healthiest).

Also, some research shows eating toast/bagel/whole grain something in the morning with an egg or two can make you feel fuller throughout the day.

Thank you both, and thanks Kelly for clearing up my concerns about what was allowed.
Everything further than a few feet away is always a bit blurry for me anyway since I don't wear my glasses much so I can't say I've noticed that or any changes in my hands or feet. My feet have always tripped over themselves and my hands have always been shaky when I need them.
Generally I have a drink 24/7. I'll always have a cup with Diet Pepsi or diluted orange squash in it, it's just habit. But yeah, a couple weeks ago I did start uh.. "excreting" more, (God this is awkward) but its only the past few days I've been all "FOOD! NOW!" all the time.
I'm not sure if it's worth bringing up with the doctor or if I should leave it a bit longer and see.

It can't hurt to see a doctor. When I was concerned about it, my doctor had me increase protein intake. Didn't get better. So then he put me on birth control to increase my hormones (and to correct some other stuff) xD And it worked.

So, contact your doctor since you are concerned.
