tinea versicolor - April 6th 2012, 01:44 AM

I hope this is in the right spot. I have a skin discoloration caused by a fungus and the doctor can't give me anything to fix it until after my baby is born (tinea versicolor). The problem is that it makes me self conscious of myself. I went to the hospital today for an allergic reaction and the nurse who knew nothing about it assumed I was doing drugs. I didn't think it was problem until now. I know people notice it on my neck and on my arms as well. The main thing is, is there something I can do to make myself have more confidence in myself or something, I've been to the point I don't want to go out in public. Who else has it and has done something for it?

This is actually really common and I don't see why in the world your nurse would think you were doing drugs. TV doesn't look like it relates to drugs in any way.

I wouldn't be ashamed hun. It's common.

And yes, since you are pregnant you can't treat it. The best advice I can give for you right now is to try not to sweat alot, if you do, shower and change clothes. Try to stay out of the sun as much as possible as well. This won't clear it up, but it can prevent it from spreading.
