serious smoking problem - May 5th 2009, 01:40 AM

okay so i need to quit smoking. my mom has lung cancer from smoking. its an eye opening experience and its sad it took that to make me want to quit.


i am allergic to the patch. and the nicotine gum does nothing for me.

is there anyone out there that has quit smoking? how did you do it, or if you have tips they would be greatly appriciated.

I'm sorry to hear that your mom has lung cancer, but it's great that it's motivated you to quit smoking. I quit myself just this year.

I thought becomeanex.org was really helpful. It helps you figure out how to quit gradually and helps you identify triggers that make you smoke. There are some triggers that I didn't realize were even affecting me.


This is also a really nice article on quitting smoking. It has alternatives to the patch and nicotine gum, so that would probably be helpful for you. Good luck with everything!

there's these electronic cigarettes you can buy
they have them at the mall i go to
it helps you quit and you can smoke them anywhere cause it's not real smoke
they're $2 a pack
it won't let me post the link to the website
but if you good "smoking everywhere" it's the first link

If you're willing to spend the money, I have heard that hypnotherapy does actually work. If not just surround yourself with habits and hobbies or good people to get your mind off smoking.
