If you're using it as a crutch for pressure, stress, or any of the above then it could be considered an addiction. Not all addictions are classified by a biological dependence as many believe for example weed is considered "non-addictive" since it doesn't create any true physical dependence.
However, everything can be psychologically addictive. If smoking weed is causing you to skip class, reduce studying, etc then it could be considered harmfully addictive. |

I don't think you should spend a whole lot of time worrying about whether or not you're addicted right now. It sounds like there are circumstances where you can go without weed (when you're not in college), which is a good thing. I think your main concern should be how you can get out of situations where you feel like you need weed because you've proven that you are fully capable of going without it when you're not at college. Is there any way you can switch colleges? Drop some classes and take them later? Do you have any friends who you could try and make yourself hang out with whenever you feel like smoking? It sounds like you might have a tendency to isolate yourself some, and that's one thing you should definitely try to combat by making yourself get into some social situations so you can try not to smoke. I know it seems like college would be unbearable without smoking, but if you try to find some friends who can support you and maybe modify your schedule or talk to your teachers about things or change colleges, I know you'd be able to handle it.
"Love me for me, accept the fact I'm true, live like I want, fufill my dreams, Dream of me, run out free, capture your words and never let them go." I'll see you on the other side. |
