I think I'm addicted

Recently someone who I loved has totally shut me out and told me they never wanted to talk to me again. I got a HUGE headache so I took a lot of painkillers. Well... they sort of numbed the emotional pain too... like I felt better so I took more. And then my stomach hurt a little so I took more. I've taken about 14 now in the past 5ish hours. What should I do? I'm a little scared and I feel kind of dizzy and weak but otherwise I feel fine. The stomach ache is gone and so is my headache. I know its dangerous but I'm too scared to tell my mother and I'm scared of going to the doctors. I don't want to die exactly, but I like that this is blocking the pain from my mind.

If you've taken more pills than are allowed on the packaging, then you NEED to go to the ER. You could potentially have taken enough to kill yourself, which is NOT what you want!

I know you're worried now, but this is a very serious thing. Especially if you think you're addicted to doing this. Please, speak to a doctor.

I know I should see a doctor, I'm just not sure how to tell anyone. I don't want to scare my friends and family, and my mother would probably just blow it off and say I'll be okay. She never thinks anything is serious.

Really? So if you were to walk up to your mother effed up on FOURTEEN painkillers you're telling me she wouldn't think that's anything serious? If you didn't go to the hospital already you need to and you need to tell someone because this is NOT okay. I was addicted to painkillers for a long time and even I didn't take that many in 5 hours. You do realize you could've died depending on what you took. This should be the biggest wake up call to you to talk to someone especially since you were seeking that when you created this thread.

Firstly, you can make a head ache go away with Tyleno, Advil, or Ibuprofin.

You NEED to see a doctor, this is serious. If you are willing to down 14 pain killers, then it's worth telling your parents. I HIGHLY suggest you do that.

It's not a good thing at all. It's not smart. I really hope you get help for this.

I am not trying to sound mean, or harsh. I am genuinely concerned for your safety and health. Pills are not to be messed around with dear. Get yourself help.

Well I told my mother which was very hard to do. At first it seemed as if she didn't care, but she called a therapist so I am going to get help. Thanks for all your concern guys <3

But that's some serious stuff. 14 is a lot.

I'm 20 years old, 5'9 and XX lbs. If I took that much I think I would have died.

I am 23 years old and I have been on TeenHelp for years I was once an admin and I became addicted to painkillers after being prescribed them from a legal doctor and now I still struggle with addiction every day so please stop while you can.

I'm really sorry that happened Dustin. It is very hard to quit; I didn't even realize I was hooked until I realized I was taking them for no reason.

What kind of pain killers did you take? people here may be re-acting on how close to actual phyiscally damaging yourself seriously, i've taken 16+ oxycodone in a 24 hour span and was fine. if you took 14 tylonel or advil or something, your not really at any risk to die or anything unless something strange happens


people don't seem to realize it takes alot more to kill a human when it comes to drugs than most think

This stil doesnt make it acceptable and 'normal' to exceed a stated dosage!

Actually, Tylenol can cause liver damage if taken heavily. It's a potential side effect so I am not saying everyone will get it.
