dads drinking - November 10th 2010, 01:28 PM

my dads drinking is getting worse, he went away on buisness came back late last night, i know he drank last night, i know he did, he opened a bottle of gin, the gin was'nt there during the day yesterday today i opened the fridge and saw the bottle of gin nearly half of it is gone! im getting fed up of my dads drinking, its driving me insane,if theres no beer he'll drink wine or anything else and last night it was gin. but my dad doesnt seem to think he has a problem even my mum has admitted my dad drinks to much, why cant we just force him to go to the doctor and get help ? why ? why cant he just stay sober for one fucking night why cant he ?

the girl who always seemed unbreakble finally
BROKE
the girl who seemed strong
CRUMBLED
the girl who always laughed
CRIED
the girl who never stopped trying finally
GAVE UP

she let her fake smile fade and as she did a tear rolled down her cheek and she whispered

' i can't do this anymore'

Your Dad obviously has a problem, whether he realises it or not. But something you personally need to come to terms with is the fact that something is causing your father to turn to alcohol, unfortunately it has gotten to a position where he finds himself drinking every evening and it has spiraled out of control. Just try your hardest to not blame your father for what's going on, I know it was a foolish thing on his part to turn to the bottle, but sometimes, people feel as if they have no other choice. When you have a problem that is progressively getting worst, you're ignorant to its developments until you find yourself in an alarming situation or something similar.
I'm sure your Dad is a good man at heart, and that's what you need to remember. He is a human being too and something is driving him to alcohol. It's something that's very hard to keep your cool about at times, but you need to be strong for him, let him know that his family is there and supporting him. If he feels abandoned by his family then chances are, the problem will just grow worse. I know you're just desperate for him to see the problem, and he will do... I promise, but you can't force someone to it in themselves... They don't truely appreciate the severity of the situation and give half hearted attempts to fix it. You need him to battle on with it in his own time.
And in the meantime, you, and your family should just sit back, support him in every way that you can and keep your chins up. Everytime you're feeling the strain, get yourself on here and just rant it away.

This is so badly written, I apologise... I'm exhausted.
