The easiest way to make this not be a problem is to just stop smoking.

Is it every cigarette or just the first few?

I agree with Myss. Smoking is very, very bad for your health and it is probably the reason for the dizziness. The best and sure way to get rid of it is to quit smoking.
It will take time and effort, but when you are still alive years after you would have been, it will be well worth it. Best of luck!

I'm assuming from this that you haven't had this sort of thing happen in the past. I would say you should go to a doctor, honestly. You may have developed in intolerance to something in cigarettes (there's a lot of bad stuff in there). Another thing to keep in mind is that smoking causes vasoconstriction, which pretty much means your blood vessels tighten and your blood pressure and heart rate go up, which can make a person feel dizzy. Nicotine also can make people dizzy. Something could also be amiss in your respiratory system (like you may have developed asthma or something else going on with your lungs), or you could've developed/worsened a smoke allergy. My obvious recommendation is for you to quit smoking, but if you don't want to, I'd suggest you try to cut down on how many cigarettes you're smoking and also to see a doctor..

This used to happen to me when I first started smoking but it then stopped. Honestly, the best answer is to stop smoking.

The nicotine present in tobacco decreases oxygen supply in the body. Deficient oxygen puts pressure on the heart, as it causes it to work harder to supply sufficient amount of oxygen required by the other parts of the body. When the heart starts to strain under pressure, it affects the overall functioning of the cardiovascular system, and raises blood pressure. A sudden increase in blood pressure can cause you to feel dizzy.

Or. Could be a nicotine rush if you're only experiencing it with your first couple of cigarettes in the day. My first cigarette of the day always makes me feel light headed and little bit sick. But then the rest of the day it's fine.

You can stop. Anyone can stop smoking. You just have to have willpower.

It's not that easy. There are many factors involved such as how often one smokes a cigarette, how much they smoke, what age they started, their physical body and whether it is more likely to become dependent, the level of stress in their life, and so on. Saying it's just willpower shows little consideration for facts about the differences in individuals and their circumstances.

According to several medical doctors, several who present to people at stop-smoking seminars, my boyfriend will probably be unable to ever quit smoking due to his age that he started, how much he smoked in his earlier
years, and his family history of addiction.

Re: Smoking issues - December 8th 2010, 11:45 AM

Both my parents used to smoke, both of them quit.
My brother in law used to smoke, he quit.
My boyfriends uncle smoked, he quit.

It can be done.

And considering that I wholeheartedly believe that you can do anything that you set your mind to (within reason obviously), science means nothing to me when it comes to things like this.
