Okay last night I went to my friends place and I took 2 hits out of their huge bong but the 2nd one I forgot to take that one thing off and got way too much smoke and I was coughing so much. I got a drink and my throat felt dry and I started to panic I guess. It was horrible I felt like I was melting and I thought my tongue was trying to suffocate me...lol

Anxiety and panic attacks can be common side effects of marijuana use, I have personally known many people that have stopped smoking due to this, everyone reacts differently.

I have the first time I got really blazed. I thought I was going to die or reality was going to break or something.. but thats just because the whole feeling of dissociation had just kicked in after two nice bong hits, and with me being new to smoking weed and all..

It happened again the next time I smoked because I was still feeling a bit nervous. Since then it hasn't happened at all though.

The problem you're having is you need to have no doubts or second thoughts about smoking before you light up that bong - otherwise you're setting yourself up for a nasty paranoia trip.

I have never had a panic attack from marijuana but the first time I ever smoked marijuana I got very dizzy and ended up vomiting. The only thing related to a panic attack that marijuana does to me is that sometimes I get paranoid and pace the floors when I smoke but thats it.

Re: Panic attack - February 10th 2009, 10:08 AM

Panic attacks may be symptoms of an anxiety disorder. These attacks are a serious health problem about 3 million people, will have panic attacks at some time in their lives, with the peak age at which people have their first panic attack being 15 to 19 years.

Another fact about panic is that this symptom is strikingly different from other types of anxiety; panic attacks are so very sudden and often unexpected, appear to be unprovoked, and are often disabling.
