Re: Question about a drug. - January 19th 2011, 03:34 AM

can be really damaging to the liver/ nose if he snorts it, get him to seek help. I'm usually pretty relaxed on getting people to seek help RIGHT away, but opiates are nothign to fuck around with, if he drinks wihle using them, it makes it much worse, seriously, get someone to talk to him.

put it this way, oxycodone (im assuming, it could be oxycoton) are opiates, heroin is an opiate.

they use some prescription opiates, i cant remember if its Oxy, Vic or Perc that they use to ween heroin addicts off heroin in rehab centres, its similiar affects but nto as bad/weaker, so its a "good" way to get them to quit.

Really sorry you have to go threw this, pain killer addictions can be hell and I really hope your brother has strong will power, but seriously, tell your parents if they don't know, and get him to a doctor, if he's not to far into it, he may be "okay" health wise, but if he does alot at a time and drinks, it can be pretty damn toxic

Hey-

I would research Oxycotin or Oxycodone if I were you. It helps to understand the drug people we love is taking in my opinion. And knowing helpful stuff like what it does, how it's taken and so forth can be helpful with how to deal with the person, how to bring it up in a conversation if you decide to do that and so forth.

Basically Oxy is like Heroin in a way, but it's a prescription pain killer like Vicodin just tends to be a lot stronger. It's extremely addictive, physically and mentally. To be perfectly honest with you, it's my drug of choice, but since it is so addictive I try to stay away from it. The negatives do in the end, outweigh the positives.

If you're concerned about your brother, try to bring it up when he's obviously not under the influence of it. From my experience, people can get angry when bringing up something like that. They tend to get defensive and so forth. If you feel like bringing it up might be a safety risk, then I wouldn't suggest it.

What I would suggest, is if you live in a place that has Ala-non meetings, you should go talk to some of the people in there. It's helped a lot of people. It's basically revolved around alcohol, but it's really for anyone who has a friend or relative addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Good luck! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
Maria.
