Weed and Prozac -

I went to the doctor a couple of days ago and he prescribed the generic brand of Prozac. I've been smoking for 3 years now. I've been doing my homework on this medication and a lot of people say smoking while on Prozac has some bad effects and some saying they've never had any bad effects besides getting higher than they normally would. Anyone ever mixed these 2 drugs? If so...what kind of effect did it have on you? I haven't taken any yet. And I really didn't plan on stopping smoking so soon but if I need to I will.

I know this guy who smoked weed while he was on Prozac and it made him really depressed. :/ Everyone's chemical makeup is different, though, so don't automatically assume it's gonna happen to you.

Have you considered telling your doctor you smoke weed? I told the Psychiatrist I smoke weed when I was at my Psychiatric Evaluation, and she didn't hold it against me, or discredit anything I said because of it.
If you talk to your doctor, you could both discuss possible side effects, and other antidepressants that may help if the Prozac is an issue with weed. If you're really worried about this, see your doctor/physician.
For me, when I was on this, it didn't have any affect for me. I didn't really feel any diffrent when I was on Prozac, probably because I was smoking. Nothing bad though, I didn't have any reason to be on anti-deps when I was high. |

Thanks for your replies guys. I still haven't started the meds yet but I will tomorrow. I am going to try to quit smoking because I too started to think, "Maybe I won't need to smoke anymore if I'm on meds." I don't want to feel more depressed than I already am and I def don't want to smoke one day while taking my meds and spaz out or something.
