Really, it depends on if he wants to stop drinking or not. Then from there I could give advice. If he doesn't want to quit then the best you can do is offer to guide him to someone who can help him (AA, therapist).

First you have to get him to admit he has a problem, otherwise he'll continue to drink as if there's nothing wrong.
Get his family involved and as much support from the people around him.
Is there any particular reason in which he drinks? Maybe you could try find that out and help him with it.

Once he's ready to get help, there's multiple way you could help him.
AA classes, go to rehab centers as a day patient.

Research centers and support for alcoholics in your area and see if he'd be wiling to try one out.
Good luck

You can't help anyone that doesn't want help, unfortunately. Until he realises he has a problem and wants to do something about it, he's just going to resent you for what he sees as pointlessly nagging him. As hard as it sounds, you need to step back and let him realise all this by himself. Just be there for him so he knows when the time comes he not alone. x
