Headache from smoking? - March 4th 2009, 02:46 PM

I quit smoking a couple years ago, and recently the cravings started up again(I blame stress) so I smoked about half a cigarette, and now I've a horrible headache. I never used to get any headaches when I first started smoking, so why should I be getting them now? I'm kind of confused about this(and in pain). Is it possible its because it is a different brand? Or the fact companies have recently started adding more nicotine and other stuff?

Well, there's an awful lot of chemicals in cigarettes, maybe after not being around cigarettes for awhile made your body a bit not familiar to the chemicals. I read somewhere the other day that if a heavy smoker goes a whole day without smoking, it already makes them as healthy as someone who hasn't smoked for ten years, so maybe to your body it was as if you were having your very first cigarette and it just wasn't used to it?

Maybe if it persists you could go get it checked out.

I suppose, but I never had this reaction with my very first cigarette, I never even coughed *is proud*

And, I can't really go to the doctor about it, because I'm underage and not really supposed to be smoking anyways. He'll just tell me to come back in a few years, if the problem is still prevalent then.

It might be because your bodys gone with out nicotine for so long, that a sudden rush of nicotine is caused it to be a bit overloaded if that make sense lol,
I get the same thing when i haven't smoked for a few days, so its not abnormal.

But well done for quitting for so long!
