Pills. - April 19th 2011, 02:48 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of substance use, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I have questions about pills.

ibuprofen
: Is it even possible to get high off of this? One of my friends convinced me so, so I took one that and I didn't get high. I just felt kinda sick. ?

Oxycodone: What would a very strong dose of this do to an underweight thirteen year old? Death? sickness? A weird high? Addiction?
Also, with the addiction I just stated. I've never really been addicted to anything besides the computer. What would happen if I were to get addicted to this^^

And yeah if you answer my questions, like please tell me all of the bad things that would happen if I were to take either of these. I would rather hear it from you guys harshly then find out the hard way.

I dont think its possible to get high off ibprofen ive taken like 20 at once and i didnt get high. I know that high doses can cause kidney and liver damage.
Oxycodone is highly addictive, and you can OD. but other than that i dont know much about it.
I would advise you not to do any drugs because addiction can cause you to fall behind in school, family problems and you could end up in jail or even dead. I know that sounds harsh but before you know it things can spiral out of control.

I'll answer the question about oxycodone first as it's a more straight-forward answer. Oxycodone is very addictive and not uncommon to be addicted in less than 12-14 days of constant usage. A single experience of any drug won't make you addicted to it. The problem with oxycodone is the LD50 (50% of lethal dose) isn't known in humans. A good guess though would be 50 mg would probably cause mild effects to be felt. Toward 80mg-100mg+ you start getting stronger effects. Mind you, given the fact you're 13 and probably don't weigh as much as adults, a dose that has mild effects in an adult would have stronger effects in you.

Ibuprofen can cause rebound headaches once you stop taking it. These headaches aren't desirable and it becomes more of a psychological addiction than anything for ibuprofen. These rebound headaches are best thought of as withdrawl symptoms, however, ibuprofen causes negligble tolerance. In effect, it somewhat depends on how you define "addiction". If you say it only causes withdrawl or withdrawl-like symptoms, then ibuprofen is addictive. Generally that definition isn't used, so it's not physiologically addictive. People may want to keep taking it to avoid the rebound headaches.

A shorter answer to the ibuprofen question is it's a non-narcotic NSAID. It does relieve some pain and pain relievers can be quite addicting as they use certain mechanisms. Ibuprofen doesn't use such mechanisms that morphine or codeine uses, so its effects are weak-mild, hence why you didn't feel strong effects. If you took that same amount of morphine, you'd clearly feel the difference in strength.

For both oxycodone and ibuprofen (although applies more to oxycodone), routes of administration are important. Depending on the route, different strengths will be felt, durations of effects will be different, etc... .

It's probably advanced for you but if you're interested, routes of administration center around bioavailability. If you're interested, look up bioavailability and feel free to ask any questions of it or of the mentioned drugs.

Not to be contradictory, but in this situation, I feel the need for a slight correction. Oxycodone/Oxycontin is an addictive drug. I've taken it several times. It produces a very calm, relaxed feeling, with less sensitivity to touch. You can get a nice high from only XX mg, or less. It depends on how your body reacts to it. Start by taking it in XX mg increments until you feel it. XX mg is an awful lot. XX mg is way too much.

I don't think you can get high off of ibu, but you can ruin your stomach lining and have incredibly painful ulcers in your stomach. And it's not hard to get to that point.

I have no idea what a high dose of oxy would do, but a normal dose of it pretty much knocked me senseless. I was lucky I knew my name.

I've found the one who completes me.
This love is like nothing I've ever felt before. <3
