accidental relapse [possible trigger] -
March 6th 2009, 02:20 PM
ok so crap!! i'm accidentally high. i SERIOUSLY didnt mean to!!! i took some flu medicine [because i have to flu]. and then i came to school [where i am now]. i ALWAYS get coffee in the morning, i cant survive without it. however the cafe at my school was closed today for some reason. soo i go and get a monster from one of the machines.
flu meds + monster[energy drink] = me high. this is a first. it's never happened to me before so how was i suppose to know it was going to?? the thing that sucks is it feels really good. like, i'm thinking of doing it this way from now on. WHICH IS BAD!!! the reason for this thread: i need support. i'd like to be able to get better on my own, but i dont have the mental abilty to do that. LOVE! ella |

You are probably NOT high. However, i suggest not trying that again. Try focusing on something...like a sport or something like that
when you feel like getting high again. My boyfriend used to get high mostly every weekend. He started track and has not gotten high in the past 7 months. So, it doesn't have to be a dedicated sport or hobby. It could just be in that moment in time. Just remember...YOU DON'T WANT TO GET HIGH. You CAN do this ![]() Best wishes, Megan |

You probably are gaining the feeling of a high from the increased heart rate an energy drink gives you, not to mention the copious amounts of sugar in one of those cans, but nonetheless if it makes you feel like you are high and makes you want to actually get high, you should obviously avoid this combination in the future. It's perfectly common for someone to relapse; though this isn't technically a relapse, and it's good that you still have the drive to stay sober. You should be proud that instead of going out and getting high that you came for support, it means that you are actually serious about this.

It is absolutely possible to get high from flu meds. Flu meds, cough medicines..what have you. I don't know how much you took though. It sounds like you took the proper dosage of medicine so I highly doubt you're high from the medicine and combo of energy drink. Like the previous posters, I think you're just feeling the effects of caffeine.
