Anyone else feel like a 'loser'?... -
April 29th 2011, 11:47 PM
For not drinking/ smoking weed? I used to smoke weed and take pills frequently but stopped simply because it got too expensive and was ruining my life...I never took professional help. I was very popular when I did do it. I stopped and by the end of high school I basically had next to no friends left. No one wanted to socialize with me if I wasn't doing anything. Its been 3 years since I've taken anything and every day I regret that I stopped.
I can't even make new friends...the biggest social things are parties, which I can't even go to anymore because of the alcohol and drugs... When I stopped doing it, that's when my life went into a noticeable decline with depression. I honestly think about it every day...even just weed for me was highly addictive and I couldn't control myself...people can't understand that I can't take it in moderation... |

Hey-
I can say I can relate, but not in the same kind of way. I waited a while before I started getting into drugs and alcohol compared to the rest of my friends. Everyone always made fun of me, everyone thought I was "a loser" even though I was just doing what I found was best for me at the time. I've since done and tried a lot of drugs and drank a lot, and have met a lot of friends. But honestly, I don't know if my drug use is in moderation or it isn't or whatever, but the people I have met, all have drug problems. The people you meet who can stay sober, are some of the best people in the world in my opinion. Not all of them are great, and there are great people who aren't sober. But you just need to find other social things that don't require you to get "fucked up" as my friends would all say. It's great that you've decided to stop these things and it will be better for it in the end. Don't label yourself as a "loser" because you're not and who cares what other people think. You just need to meet the right people. Do you like sports? Or some kind of hobby you can do in a group? Join something like that and meet people. If people invite you to parties or something, tell them you're sober, but you'd love to grab some food sometime or just hang out. If they won't hang out with you sober I promise they're not worth your time. Do the best you can, and don't regret giving up drugs and all that, I promise it was a good decision. You just have to figure out how to live and be happy without them, which is clearly possible. =) For depression, I'd suggest speaking with a therapist or doctor who can help you. If you're clinically depressed, they can be great help if you find the right person to talk to who you feel you can be open and honest with. Best of luck. Let me know if you need anything. Maria.
