Is this a problem? -
June 29th 2011, 11:32 PM
Saturday during the day I'm supposed to go to the beach with a few friends. We were talking about drinking at the beach, even though technically you're not supposed to have alcohol on the beach. Anyhow, now there's been a slight change in plans and I feel like the majority of the people aren't going to be drinking. I had been planning on drinking because I don't do it often and my friend is driving us there, so I don't have to worry about driving home.
I guess now a few of the people are going to a party at my friend's boyfriends house. His parents aren't going to be home, so I think they'll be drinking there. The only problem is, my friend, Tina, has other plans, so I don't know how I will get to the party even if I decide to go. Also, if I go to the party, I obviously don't want to drink if I have to drive home. I also don't have to ask to stay over even though his parents won't be home. It's my friend's boyfriend, but this is my first time meeting him, so I feel like it would be inappropriate to ask. Overall, I was just really looking forward to drinking and not having to worry about driving. Is it a problem if I'm really bummed out about not being able to get drunk? I know a lot of people here are probably going to say it's stupid for me to "drink to get drunk." I'm not saying it's okay. I'm just wondering if I should be concerned that I'm sort of disappointed I can't go out and drink a lot? Sorry this turned into such a long post, I'm just don't really know what to think of the situation and I don't know what my options are or what I should do to make it better. ![]() |

Hey Nicki,
I wouldn't say this is a problem. As you said before, you don't drink very often. I'm guessing you were probably looking forward to having the opportunity to drink and not have to worry about things like driving, so i'd say it's okay to be disappointed when those plans fall through. As for your situation, I think it's really up to you and what you're comfortable with. You first have to figure out a way to the party if you're going to be drinking there. That may help you determine whether or not you're going to go. Perhaps if you can't find a way there and back, you can stay sober this time. Judging by the fact that you seem to be responsible when it comes to drinking, i'm sure it won't be that difficult for you if you end up not being able to drink that night. Remember that there will be other opportunities for you to drink with your friends. Maybe you can even try to arrange the next event, that way you can make sure you figure out the small details that will help you enjoy your night. I hope things work out for the best! Take care. :] Don't just exist...LIVE. |

If you needed to call a taxi, you could. You could get try to find a ride. Or you could avoid drinking.
I know you know this, but it should be repeated. No drinking is worth your life or someone else's. If you harm someone else, you will be charged with attempted murder. You kill them and you could go to jail for fifteen years. So please make sure you know what you are doing. - Justin ![]() |
