Unhappy My Brother Is Missing. - July 21st 2012, 10:37 PM

So it has been roughly 6 weeks since anyone has heard or seen him. Before this disappearance, he was only gone for like 2 weeks hanging out with his new girlfriend. It freaked out our grandma, but when my mom called him, he answered the phone call, so there was no worry. But now it's a little over a month now.
The bad part is that he stole our grandma's checkbook and credit cards and was also caught snooping through our grandpa's garden shed for gas cans. But our grandma refuses to call the police because she doesn't want him being sent to jail.
The thing is, is that back when I was around 6 and he was around 17/18, he disappeared for 3 or 4 years. Getting high on pot and ecstasy. He also went to jail for bank fraud after one of his "friends" gave him a bad check. But after he was released from jail, he was sent to rehab and has cleaned up since then. Every time we see him, his attitude is great, he looks great, he's clean shaven and is dressed well. He's the best brother, but he's hiding a double life and it worries and upsets me.
The last time we heard from him was when he called our mom asking for money, but we were broke at the time. He also called our uncle up in Michigan for money, but he was broke as well.
Now my brother is gone and we're getting very worried. My mom said she would call the police and file a missing persons report if he didn't call us back by the end of the week.
I'm trying to keep calm, but I don't want to exact same thing happening.
He was really leaning towards the right path on the road. He started his own computer programming business. He was making great money. He would take me out for dinner or to go bowling or see a movie about every month. It hurts me to have this gut feeling that he has started his old bad habits. I don't know how to cope.

I sent you a PM. Just remember to cherish every moment you have with the rest of your family and draw strength and comfort from each other.

I'll pray for you. I hope he comes back.
God bless. Stay strong!

My mom sent me a text a little while ago about how she was "on his trail." but whenever she says something like that, nothing ever happens. Sorry I'm just so pessimistic :c
But thank you to the both of you.

Honestly, I would be pessimistic as well. You don't have to apologize for that. Given your brother's history, I would be concerned and possibly assume the worst, too. I hope you will get some answers soon. Until then, try to distract yourself and enjoy life - you can't control what your brother does with his, but you can control what you do with yours, so make it worth living! If it turns out he's okay, then that may be a good time for the whole family (or whatever family members will participate) to get together and tell him how important it is for him to keep in touch with someone from time to time, even if he's just really busy with work and not involved with anything illegal at the time. If it turns out he's in trouble, in jail, or worse (God forbid), then you can deal with the situation once you know more about it. Right now, though, when so much is unknown, it may be pointless to start thinking too in-depth about those possibilities.

Re: My Brother Is Missing. - July 22nd 2012, 09:42 PM

I'm trying to keep my thoughts away from it, but it's hard considering how close we are. But as trying to enjoy my life/or summer, I'm kind of in a rough situation again but I'm not going to get into that because that's not why I made this post.
Anyways, thank you, Robin. c:
