Hi there,

I know how it feels. It's okay to be sad and scared.

Just remember, your father loves you and you love him.

If he is getting worse or is already worse I'd take him to the doctors right away.

I think yourself or a parent/guardian should just take him to the doctor yourselves.

Hi Naomi,

I think it's really great that you care about your dad so much. My dad just turned 50 too, so I know how it feels to know that they are getting older.

If your dad is experiencing any health problems, still urge him to go to the doctor. If there is ever a serious problem, it's better to know earlier than later. It's important for him to get checked up on, just in case.

Even if he's aging, that doesn't mean he shouldn't go for help. He may just be a little stubborn, so just give him a little nudge.

Nat.

My dad is 62 and my mum is turning 50 in two months. I really do understand your fear. Recently, I started worrying about their health a lot as well. Nothing particularly worrisome happened, but it just suddenly hit me that they are aging and that they won't be around forever. Unfortunately, that's the natural course and there's nothing you can do about it. Unless you know how to stop the time. Which I assume you don't.

Don't worry about the doctor's visit. Regular check-ups are important, because they can catch things early and start an early treatment - if needed, that is. Another thing you should keep in mind is that just because he will see a doctor it doesn't mean that they will find anything. If there are things you would like to tell him, you could write them down and some time, when you feel like it, you can give it to him to read, or you can tell him yourself when you're ready. Try to keep positive. Spend some quality time with him. It'll be okay.

Breathe infinity into my world.
