Great Grandma. - April 14th 2009, 12:01 AM

This is a story about whats been happening this past week to my Great-Grandma.
She's 90 years old.
Her mind is sharp, but her body is not.
She's had Kidney problems for forever, and she regularly goes to dialysis.
She started having trouble breathing last week, and she wasn't eating.
She also wasn't taking her pills.
They admitted her into the hospital, and gave her oxygen.
She felt better.
They ran some test and found lung cancer.
About 2 days later, they ran more and found cancer in every bone in her body.
They can't treat it because she's too old,and it would hurt her more then it would help her.
Her heart is also enlarged because its working so far.
She's dying. fast.
The doctor said it could be this week, next, next month, 3 months.
But I know she won't make it another month.
I called her yesterday and everyone in the family talked to her.
After we hung up, my grandma said that she sounded the worst that she's sounded so far.
I forgot to say "I love you" and since then, its all I ever think about.
The pills are no longer working.
And this is tearing me up inside.
I keep crying and I have this emptiness inside of me.
I just wish the Lord would take her to heaven, so she isn't suffering.
I wish there was something I could do.
But there isn't.
Please pray for her, if you're religious.
It would be appreciated.

Hey Gina. (:

I'm sorry to hear all this has been happening to your Great Grandma. I know it's tough. But I'm positive she knows you love her.

Just hang in there and be strong for your family, yeah? But don't forget to take some time for yourself. It's okay to cry.

I'll keep her in my thoughts. :]

Hi Gina,

I think the best thing to do right now is just phone her up and talk to her when you can. Go and visit, if possible. If she doesn't have much time, then it would probably cheer her up to see or hear from you and know that you care for her so much.

It's never too late to tell her you love her
I'll be thinking about her for you.

Nat.

The great artists of our time are the ones who created something timeless. But it was never them defining it that way.
Everyone has a story. What's yours?
