Unhappy Basically a rant help would be lovely:-) *weir situation* - May 23rd 2013, 10:22 PM

I know this is weird but anyway I'm the youngest in the ladies rugby team really and I love it because its the only thing i feel i'm actually good at, even though i have other hobbies and its fun exercise an I see Nathan my boyf and I've put so much effort in to it starting it up an attending and practicing but I feel almost bullied emotionally by everyone as I'm a lot younger basically tonight I was going to score a try and people were screaming TAG so I stopped and someone snatched the ball out my hands(from other team) which is against the rules yet I was shouted at and picked on (like jeering "oh you prat!" And "useless") because I didn't score by my team and the other team were laughing at me because they were the ones shouting tag to confuse me and win which upset me so I was laughing about it even though I was upset to hide it nd they just carried on and ignored me Nd shouted at me for been to slow (I have a bad hip-possible hairline fracture but I'm dedicated) not taking tags and been moody (idek) the whole time!! Nathan was been a refereeing and sent me off for been cheeky to the adults (arguing back cos they were picking on me) so I walked off and got shouted at for been moody? They told me too? Then they didn't pass me the ball at all! It also annoys me how if anyone falls/gets injured there's a massive deal about it every ones like "are you okay?" "sit out!" etc and people have been injured nearly every session and they get all this niceness, I pull a hamstring and nearly fracture my hip and I get picked on for not playing, or not been good enough and it's horrid things! I get the 'oh it's not that bad' and 'don't be a pussy' and 'you wimp' comments and its horrible!!!! Everyone is in there little friendship groups and lauging and no one cares about me! I was choking on my drink nd noone asked if I was okay, It helped me byt if it was someone else... The worst thing? My friend from school and my mum are both on the team and are most horrible. I'm 14 and the people been horrible(everyone) are 18-54! I want to quit but I feel it's the only thing I'm good at and I've tried talking to my mum but she acts all nice with me but as soon as she's with them she changes.... The worst thing is my dad is so proud of me because in his eyes I'm so good (he's a rugby player) and I don't wanna quit and let him down

if anyone is going to judge you negatively without reaching out or knowing you; then they aren't worth your worries. if you're being your best, and doing your best; that's all that matters.

Hello, and welcome to TeenHelp! =)

I didn't reply to your poll, because while this is mostly the team's fault, you do have a responsibility to communicate with the team. Have you ever told them how demoralizing all these comments are? How their negative criticism isn't helpful, and how positive/constructive criticism could enable you to be a better team player? They may not realize how upset you're getting from these comments - calling the "newbie" all those names may just be what they've always done. Now is your chance to get everyone's attention during a team meeting, and to tell them how all this makes you feel. If you have a coach or other team player who would be willing to stand by you to offer support during that speech, you may be able to make more of an impact on the team.

Unfortunately, if the bullying doesn't stop, you may want to reconsider your decision to stay on the team. Are there other rugby teams in the area? If you're part of a semi-professional sports team, then maybe you could find a recreational, less intense sports team as an alternative.
