How do I get my parents to notice me?

I will give you some background info. Both my parents and I are instructors at a karate school and because of that we constantly praise students on the littlest things. The thing is, I wish I wasn't their daughter because then they would praise me and notice me. The only time I ever get them to say they are proud of me is when I break down crying. I don't know what to do anymore. I know mentally they love me...but I don't know that in my heart...what can I do?

Your parents love you. They know you well so they wont feel much important to praise you.If you are a teenager, then its very common that you feel that your parents dont love you but reality is something else.

Relax :)

Re: How do I get my parents to notice me?

When I grew up I felt like my mum never loved me, sure she'd give me hugs and cuddles but I never really felt the love. The thing is, everyone has their own unique way of showing how much they love and care for someone, your parents too. Sure they don't always openly notice you, but I guarantee you that they notice you. If you feel that they could improve, the best thing you can do is chat to them, or whichever you feel the closest to. If you think chatting to them is difficult, write down on a piece of paper all your emotions and feelings, how you feel unnoticed and that you know mentally that they love you but you just wish they could show it a bit more because it's making you feel really down and maybe a bit invisible. Once you're finished you can put it somewhere where you know they'll find it such as on the pillow of their bed or at their computer desk if they have one. If you prefer, you could write an email instead and send it to both of them. :)
