People who are born to be individual? Me! - May 26th 2009, 03:44 AM

Over the years, I've had this firm belief that some of us just won't ever fit in with anyone else. That's our destiny, we're chosen that way, and we were born to suffer just so other people could have better lives.

I am one of those individuals. Is it possible to go your whole life without really being friends with anyone? I think I could do it. I mean, I can pretty much shrug off any nice thing that someone does for me. That doesn't mean that I am hateful- just emotionless. That's how I am. I also don't believe that I'll ever get into a relationship, simply because I'm not 'destined' too.

It's just not right.

I think people need other people in order to keep their sanity, to remain human.

I swear never to be silent whenever wherever human beings are enduring suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must — at that moment — become the center of the universe.

Yup, that's what I mean. I talk to my family, but...just not anyone else.

Humans are generally social creatures. Would you say you're a happy person?

Yeah, but I can never really socialize with anyone. I guess that's just the way I am. =

Oh well, guess I just have to live 80-some years without friends. I could probably do it, though. As crazy as it sounds, I can. Some people, like me, weren't born to be social, and I have to live my life that way.

I am similar to you, maybe not completely but I think there's only 2/3 that will actually leave a mark in my life but the rest I just show no emotion to.

Holy crap! I believe I have thought the same thing, in those exact words, numerous times.

If you want to socialize, PM me.

Listen to me and listen good.

You do NOT want that lifestyle. I've suffered with it for too long. Make the best of what you have

Well I think you can be born like that.
Maybe you are just too quiet and don't have a converstation or maybe you are too shy?
could that be?

Its not a matter of being shy or not having conversations ...its the fact that we're physically and mentally unable to to develop the social skills needed to interact with other human beings. They don't teach social skills in schools (or at least they didnt in mine) and your left to develop them on your own, but without that help, its impossible.

Hey there,

Not wanting friends and shrugging off nice things people do for you are two completely different things. It's important to maintain healthy relationships with people, even if you are not friends with them. In nearly all jobs out there, you need to communicate with others.

Consider that maybe shrugging nice gestures people do for you away may hurt their feelings. Know that they are putting in the effort to be nice to you, and even if you don't want to be friends, there are ways to politely decline. You can still be individual without hurting peoples' feelings. Let them know that you like to be alone and that you aren't really interested in a friendship right now, but thank them for taking the time for you.

I think there are times to be alone and times to socialize. Too much of one isn't very good. Keep a balance and try to be civil to others and things should go well.

Nat.

Honestly? I disagree with the statement above. Sorry. There's too much people need to be happy.
