Help please. - October 5th 2018, 08:21 PM

What do I do? When someone has time can you please help me.

We are putting on The Nutcracker at my dance school. I am trying out for Clara. One of my best friends is also trying out for her too. Do I dance like I always do, put everything in it and see what happens or let her have it? I really want to play her. I love this one. I have been in many dance performances before but small parts. My friend hasn't been in one. I don't want my friend mad at me if I truly dance for it. What do I do? I wish we both weren't going for this.

Hey Emma!

I do think you should put everything in to the tryouts. The judges will decide who is best suited for the role and it wouldn't be fair to the auditions if you were to give it away. If you do get the role, your friend should be understanding about it. If she doesn't get the role is there a way for her to audition for another position instead? I get that she would want her first pick but if she doesn't make it there could be a way for her to be in the performance anyway so she can still have her moment in a performance.

It does seem like a tough situation but if she is your best friend then she will be happy for you if you do get it. Remember there is no guarantee that she will get it even if you do give it away, there will most likely be other people auditioning for the role as well and one of them could get it instead.

I'd say just give it your all and see what happens.

Best of luck to you both.
